What is Hainan Rice? It is a dish with many variations, but its origin lies in a small island coast of mainland China. TIP: If you will dine in a restaurant new to you, best thing to do is to ask what their specialty is. So, I ordered their best seller Hainanese Delights, it is where the name of the restaurant is derived.
 




It’s a chicken dish, similar to the taste of Pilipino bowl of Tinola, but my taste bud says that I like it more. *haha* The chicken meat was tender and perfect with the hainanese rice, (kakaiba yung lasa ng chicken, hindi sya komplikado) which carries the savory flavors of China.






Actually, hainanese rice also best with beef, pork and dumplings too. The special rice is light and delicate to the palette; the bursts of flavor combined with the sumptuous grain have your mouth watering for more. I almost forgot how many scoops of rice I have eaten. (kahit kelan at kahit saan, sulit sakin ang mga unlimited!)

Cravings for Less! Mushroom Burger @ Tagaytay Saves the Day!

Any plans for the weekend? Staying at home watch some movies and hibernate is a good idea. But, inviting your colleagues have some escapade is definitely the best. Looking for a place to spend your weekends? Why don’t you just put your cardigans and sweater on, start the engine and enjoy the beauty of the South!

Tagaytay is the second summer capital of the Philippines, known for its cold atmosphere and awesome view of Taal Volcano. From Manila, it’s just one bus ride approximately 2 to 3 and max of 3 ½ hours due to heavy traffic. Ber-Season is approaching meaning to say, experience colder weather, foggy and perfect time to eat and crave. FYI, Tagaytay is the home of the best ever “BULALO”. Almost every restaurants and cafeteria in the city serves a hot bowl of delectable Bulalo.

After a long walk while enjoying the scenic spots, I’m already starving; so my feet took me to a cozy diner named Mushroom Burger.






The ambience was warm and it’s like a stopover for travelers.






All meals are less than a hundred pesos, perfect for those with big appetite and tight-budget themselves. Like any other fast food they offer noodles, rice meals, burger, fries and some others.







I’ve tried their best seller KING Mushroom Burger for only PhP.94. The smokey flavor of the mushroom mixed with pork and TLC is perfect, and I add lots of ketchup, that’s how I want it.






After the last bite being a king, I also conquer a platter of Hong Kong rice with beef and mushroom and egg, and then I’m full. SOLVE!

Cravings For Less! Unlimited Cake and Coffee @ The Orange Place Hotel - Santolan

Craving sweets? A slice of cake is enough but having more is heaven. Cake and Coffee seems to be perfect lovers. Must try UNLIMITED CAKE AND COFFEE FOR PHP.150 @ THE ORANGE PLACE HOTEL.

To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of cake and coffee, maybe cookies and frappe. So I went with my co-bloggers to try and taste satisfaction. No one of us has been there before so we rely on the map from Google, thanks to technology. From Pureza LRT station you have two options on how to get to Gilmore Station; either you take the LRT or PUJ like what we did. Then from Gilmore, you’ve to walk three blocks to reach Granada St. and another jeep to arrive at J.Abad Santos cor. Santolan Rd, whereas you can find The Orange Place Hotel. It’s easy to find because is along the road.

The one we visited is also the restaurant in the hotel, the coffee shop actually is located in Eastwood, EDSA Shangri-La Mall, and Katipunan, but nonetheless, they serve the same mouth-watering cakes and awesome brewed coffee perfect black or with creamer. The place was cozy and quite intimidating, but we been able to handle ourselves.

Verdict time comes, when the first slice was served. It was a delectable serving of Devil’s Food Cake, so if you want to experience hell in the sweetest way try this one. The second variant we’ve tried is the Swiss Alps, best for those with sweet tooth; the flavor was so creamy and diabetic. *haha* Third slice was Carrot Cake, weird right? Don’t worry it is not for vegetarians. It tastes less like a carrot but cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.

Eating sweet for two and half hour makes me full because I eat like a pig. I almost forgot how many slices I’ve eaten, it’s worth the price. Going home is definitely less complicated, there are G-liner Busses straight to Quiapo, and it is just 20mins trip going back to Pureza. You can take bus going back and forth because it is easier and faster.
